About Us

From one act of kindness to a sanctuary of hope.

Sri Mahaveer Jain Pashu Seva Kendra grew from a single rescue in 2008 into a trusted sanctuary serving injured, abandoned, and vulnerable animals with compassion and responsibility.

Founder

Indira Jain

Her decision to save one helpless cow became the living foundation of this sanctuary and the compassion it extends today.

The spark in 2008

One day, a sick and abandoned cow was found lying on the street outside Indira Jain's home. For three days, no owner came forward. Unable to watch the suffering any longer, she stepped in and saved the animal's life.

That single act of kindness became the beginning of something extraordinary—an enduring promise that vulnerable animals in Nellore would not be left behind.

2008

The Spark

The journey began when a sick and abandoned cow lay outside Indira Jain's home for three days. Unable to ignore the suffering, she stepped forward and saved the animal's life.

Then

From One Life to Many

What began with one rescued cow slowly grew into care for 20 animals and eventually into a sanctuary serving hundreds of vulnerable lives in Nellore.

Today

A Sanctuary of Hope

The organisation now shelters cows, buffaloes, dogs, pigeons, cats, rabbits, monkeys, horses, and roosters across a compassionate care ecosystem.

Next

Future Vision

A formal trust is now established, and a Pyau water station is being built across three newly purchased plots so animals never go thirsty.

Compassion for every living being

The mission is rooted in Ahimsa and Jeev-Daya: no injured, sick, or abandoned animal should suffer without help.

Dignity through care

Emergency rescue, treatment, food, shelter, rehabilitation, and safe release are approached with consistency and respect.

A home of peace

For many animals, the sanctuary becomes a safe refuge where the body heals and fear slowly softens.

A growing sanctuary

Care across land, shelter, and everyday service.

Today the shelter spans over five acres of land and cares for a diverse rescue population with the support of a dedicated medical and operational team.

Building a Pyau so no animal goes thirsty
